Shamrocks 2004 Team has Strong Start to Season!! The Shamrocks 2004 team traveled to The Rinks at Exeter this weekend to take part in the Summer Showdown Tourney. The Shamrocks would start out strong with an 8 to 4 victory over Top Gun the first night. The second game they would pepper the Spartans Goaltender and would come away with a 4-3 win to put them tied for first with the Jr Rangers. The third game was a tough physical game where the Shamrocks would fall behind 3 to 1 early in the game. The Shamrocks changed the momentum of the game after killing a 6:30 minute power play and would go on to tie the Jr Rangers 3-3. The Shamrocks would end the pool play in second place after losing the tie breaker and would play the Top Gun team again in the Semi-Finals. The Shamrocks came ready to play and would control the semi-final game from the first puck drop and would get a berth to the finals after beating the Top Gun team 11-2. The Championship would come down to the Shamrocks and the Jr. Rangers. The Shamrocks got down 2 to 0 in the first minute of play. However, the shook off the nerves and jitters and would cut the lead to 2 to 1. The Jr Rangers would score again to take a 3-1 lead. The Shamrocks would compose themselves during the 2nd intermission and at 9 minutes an 9 seconds left would take control of the game with 2 fast goals to tie it 3-3. After a Shamrocks time out, the Shamrocks lined up and after relentless pressure they would score the winning goal with 25 seconds left in the game...the Shamrocks would hold on after the Jr. Rangers pulled their goalie for the Championship. All weekend the Shamrocks played tough with a gritty defense corp of Patrick Barrett, Nick Heaslip, Janssen Sperling, Ryan Dusablon and Jake Guertin. The Shamrocks scored 30 goals in 5 games with a lot of hard work by the forward group which included Ryan McGuinness, Matt Elwell, Rowan Mondello, Will Van Sicklin, Cosmo Siano, Michael Pellegrino, Ben Sieve, Tommy Chesna and Dominic Chesna. The Shamrocks got great goaltending from the duo of Jared Norton and Aidan Goulding....All of the boys showed great heart, tremendous team work and support of each other and never gave up the entire weekend...Great Job Shamrocks!!!!
